A little hello to the finder of my latest BookCrossing release — Local Girl Missing by Claire Douglas, last seen at Bebington Station on the Wirral. One of my favourite local drop spots, and the perfect setting for a twisty seaside thriller to begin its next journey.

I found a copy of D. H. Lawrence’s The Lost Girl in a charity shop for just 50p. Inside was a haunting inscription: “I hope you are near to the exit of the maze! Love G x.” I did the unthinkable and put it back—but the words have stayed with me ever since
